Spotlight: Nectarines

N is for Nectarines

People are often unsure of the differences between peaches and nectarines.
To be honest, there’s not a lot of difference. They’re both very good nutritionally, offering a range of vitamins, minerals and dietary fibre.
Physically, nectarines lack the soft hairy skin that peaches have – they are usually the size of a mature peach but have a slightly firmer texture and a sharper flavour.

πŸ‘ Nectarines are high in the anti-oxidant, beta-carotene (seen through it’s bright orange colour). Beta-carotene converts to Vitamin A in the body, Vitamin A is essential for maintaining healthy bones, skin and teeth.

πŸ‘ 1 medium nectarine contains 10% of your daily recommended fibre intake and 13% of your daily Vitamin C.

πŸ‘Nectarines contain Tryptophan, the precursor to Serotonin – known as the “Happy” hormone
