Spotlight: Mango

M is for Mango

In South Asia, the mango is known as the ‘King of Fruits’, for me, it’s easy to see why… The juicy stone fruit has a sweet, almost luxurious flavour and is jam packed with nutritional goodness.

🥭 One cup of mango provides nearly 70% of your daily Vitamin C. Vitamin C helps your immune system, helps your body absorb iron and promotes growth and repair

🥭 Mangoes contain polyphenols. Polyphenols are Phytochemicals that act as antioxidants. Mangiferin is one such polyphenol found in mangoes. Studies show that Mangiferin may repair damage caused by free radicals linked to some cancers, diabetes and other illnesses

🥭 One cup of mango provides 10% of your daily Vitamin A, a vitamin known to help fight infections

🥭 Mango are good for digestive health. They contain enzymes called amylases which break down starch into simple sugars so it can be more easily absorbed

Even without these amazing nutritional benefits, mangoes would be high on my list of favourite foods. A true taste of paradise!
