F is for Figs
Figs are a luxurious, high fibre fruit. Figs can be eaten fresh, dried or made into a chutney, and are a fantastic accompaniment to cheese or serve wrapped in ham, they provide a whole host of nutritional benefits too.
๐ข Figs may help to lower blood pressure as they are a good source of potassium.
๐ข Dried figs contain more calcium than any other dried fruit, which helps promote bone density.
๐ข Figs are a good source of Vitamin A (needed to maintain healthy eye, skin and a robust immune system) and Vitamin K, which plays a role in blood clotting, bone metabolism, and regulating blood calcium levels.
๐ข Be aware that figs are high in sugar with 100g of dried figs containing 10g more (at 48g) that the recommended maximum daily amount (37.5g) for an adult male, so consume in moderation.
